There are three main types of Motor cover and we clarify these below:

Comprehensive

For most people this is the best cover and includes:


• Accidental Damage to your vehicle and windscreen
• Your liability to others, including your passengers, and EU compulsory Insurance
• Fire & Theft, malicious damage to your vehicle
• Courtesy car whilst your vehicle is repaired at an authorised garage

Third Party Fire and Theft

• Your liability to others, including your passengers and EC compulsory Insurance
• Fire, theft and malicious damage to your vehicle Third Party
• This is the minimum legal requirement and only covers your liability to others

Motorcycle Insurance

There have been a number of changes to the law regarding the qualification for a motorcycle licence and these are as follows:

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

From 1 January 1997, all moped and motorcycle learners must have completed CBT at an approved centre before riding on the road with L-plates. The CBT certificate is valid for 3 years. If the Theory and Practical tests are not passed in that time, the CBT will have to be retaken.

Theory Test

The theory test was introduced in July 1996 in addition to the practical driving test. The Theory Test Pass certificate is valid for two years. If the practical driving test is not taken within this 2-year period, the Theory Test will have to be retaken.

Classic car insurance

We have access to a number of leading insurers who specialise in this type of cover to provide your prized possession with maximum cover.


Premiums are calculated based on information such as the area you live, the type of vehicle you own and annual mileage. Discounts are available for Car Club Membership and vehicle security.


Agreed valued policies are also available, insurers would require six recent photographs of the vehicle dated and signed by the Policyholder. Vehicles manufactured 10 years ago and older are acceptable, subject to eligibility.


Should you wish to travel abroad with your vehicle, Insurers will provide Green Cards and Bail Bonds for a small additional charge.
