New Fire Safety Rules
New Fire Safety rules came into force on 1st October 2006. The new rules apply to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales and apply to
- An Employer
- Self Employed with Business Premises
- Responsible for business premises
- A charity or voluntary organisation
- A contractor with a degree of control over any premises
Under these new reforms you now must
- Carry out a fire risk assessment on your premises to identify possible dangers or risks and keep a record of this
- Consider who may be especially at risk
- Eliminate or reduce the risk from fire as far as reasonably possible
- Ensure there is protection in place if flammable or explosive materials are either used or stored on site
- Create a plan to deal with any emergency situation, in most circumstances you’ll need to keep a record of this.
